The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is an autonomous body established under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. State License: For medium-sized food businesses with an annual turnover between ₹12 lakhs and ₹20 crores. Required for small to medium-sized manufacturers, storage units, transporters, retailers, marketers, etc.
Central License: For large food businesses with an annual turnover exceeding ₹20 crores. Mandatory for importers, exporters, large manufacturers, and units operating in multiple states.
Documents Required for Registration of FSSAI
Basic Registration:Photograph of the applicant.Proof of identity (Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID).Proof of address (utility bill, rent agreement).
State License: Photograph of the applicant.Proof of identity and address of the applicant.Proof of business premises (rental agreement, utility bill).Form B duly completed and signed.List of food products to be manufactured or processed.Blueprint/layout plan of the processing unit.List of directors/partners/proprietor with address and contact details.Food safety management system plan or certificate.
Central License: All documents required for the state license.Certificate of incorporation, memorandum, and articles of association.Import Export Code (IEC) certificate for food importers.Ministry of Commerce certificate for 100% export-oriented units.No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the local municipality.
